The HSE approved Part IV Recompression Chamber Awareness professional Scuba qualification is required by anyone who works underwater in a commercial and professional capacity, such as: film makers; actors and presenters; inshore commercial divers; marine biologists; and marine archaeologists.Who Should Attend?
Participants in the HSE part IV Professional Scuba Diver Course.Subjects Covered:
- Familiarization of a multi-place hyperbaric facility
- Standard operating procedures of a hyperbaric unit
- Pre-dive checklists
- Post-dive checklists
- An introduction to decompression illness (DCI)
- Treatment of DCI
- Internal hyperbaric chamber orientation
- Role of a hyperbaric tender
- A 40 metre ‘dry dive’ in a hyperbaric chamber (to experience nitrogen narcosis)
- Assessed HSE competencies:
- Chamber compression
- Chamber decompression
- Medical-lock accessing
- Entry-lock accessing
- Flushing of a pressurized hyperbaric environment
- Handling casualty emergencies
Certification:
For a full HSE Part IV Scuba qualification, a candidate will need to be in possession of:- A HSE Part IV Scuba qualification (from an approved centre)
- A valid HSE Oxygen Providers certificate
- A valid HSE First Aid At Work certificate
- A HSE Part IV Scuba Chamber Awareness certificate

- HSE Part IV (Scuba) Chamber Awareness course: 1 Day (6 contact hours)
- HSE Part IV (Scuba) Chamber Awareness course combined with the Oxygen Administration course: 1 day (8 contact hours)
- HSE Part IV (Scuba) Chamber Awareness course combined with the Oxygen Administration and the HSE First Aid at Work courses: 4 days (24 contact hours)
The HSE Part IV (Scuba) Chamber Awareness course can be combined with:
- the Oxygen Administration course for a total cost of £190.
